Who Chung-Hsin Electric is

Chung-Hsin Electric and Machinery (1513.TW) is Taiwan's domestic gas-insulated switchgear maker, with a claimed ~80% share of Taipower GIS and ~65% outside Taipower, plus EPC for hydro, wind and solar. The listed group also runs DUDU parking and computer-room HVAC/electrical operations, and builds generators and chillers.

It is not on NVIDIA's published 800 VDC partner list. The April 2026 call did not discuss 800 V, HVDC, SST, or DC busway. Chung-Hsin is in this collection because semiconductor fab expansion and AI / IDC halls are pulling its facility gear — GIS, generators, air-conditioning — not because it is a rack-level 800 V name.

The product line runs 345 kV, 161 kV, 69 kV and 22 kV GIS. That is utility and campus medium- and high-voltage AC, which sits at the left edge of NVIDIA's diagram (grid 13.8–35 kV AC) before any rectifier.

Business mix

  • Heavy electrical / GIS — the core, still growing, with Taipower's NT$564.5bn grid-resilience plan plus a further NT$33.4bn distribution upgrade as the domestic backlog engine.
  • Service — DUDU parking (helped in Q1 after a systems-company acquisition) and IDC-room HVAC/electrical operations, which grow as more halls are built.
  • Generators and air-conditioning — the line management tied to AI and IDC halls, guided to +15% in 2026. Permanent-magnet centrifugal chillers, claimed 30% more efficient, are already into Chunghwa Telecom, Fubon and Taoyuan Airport, with a Vietnam push.
  • Newer bets — a shift in hydrogen from delayed buses to a containerised methanol-to-hydrogen generating system, with a US R&D base; modular container computer rooms (generator, HVAC, switchgear, server cabinets) under evaluation with listed companies and integrators; overseas GIS via the Haimen, China plant into Japan, India's Kanohar, and Vietnam's ANC (a former Siemens agent).

Where it sits in the NVIDIA 800 VDC stack

On the grid and facility AC side, not in the 800 VDC rack.

NVIDIA converts 13.8–35 kV AC through an MV rectifier or SST into 800 VDC. Chung-Hsin's GIS, transformers-adjacent EPC, generators and chillers electrify and cool the building. They do not convert to 800 VDC, do not populate a 5000 A DC board, and were not described as rack power.

The AI data-center print on this call is generators and HVAC, plus a possible modular container hall, and a first semiconductor GIS order targeted for September 2026 after passing a domestic major's qualification. Those are fab and hall infrastructure orders. Do not read them as Kyber 800 VDC content.
