Who Systems Electronics is

Systems Electronics (5309.TW) is a Taiwanese manufacturer whose original business is tyre-pressure monitoring (TPMS). The growth lines are industrial PCs — including drones — and energy systems, meaning battery backup units for AI data centers, housed in an energy subsidiary.

Pegatron came in via private placement as the largest single corporate shareholder, aimed at AI-server and US-manufacturing work. A stake in Celxpert is meant to firm up cell supply. Cash after the Pegatron money is more than NT$3bn (~US$95m).

Business mix

  • TPMS — still the largest line, roughly flat, with a Bluetooth patent that has brought European and US carmakers back to the table.
  • Industrial PCs and drones — niche, high-margin, long-cycle boxes (farm machinery, construction, surveying) plus a drone push with Germany's Quantum Systems and the US's Vantage Robotics, including a military-grade ground control station. Qualcomm is the named compute partner.
  • Energy systems (BBU) — 3 kW, 5.5 kW and 11 kW units already developed; a 25 kW HVDC unit in development with two customers. Management wants to be a top-three global BBU maker by 2028, with energy systems more than half of group sales.

Plants sit in Nantou (Taiwan), Jiangsu and Huizhou (China), and Plano, Texas.

Where it sits in the NVIDIA 800 VDC stack

In the BBU — the storage block NVIDIA writes into the rack — not in the GPU power stage.

The disclosed HVDC product is a 25 kW BBU, in development with one domestic and one overseas customer, with volume possible in 2027–2028. The call did not say 800V; it said HVDC. The nearer SKUs are 11 kW / 5.5 kW (mass production 2026Q2) and 3 kW (2026Q3).

Management has met NVIDIA and is not a supplier. The customer set it actually named is CSPs, colocation operators, server makers, and international power brands. It also claims to be the only BBU maker with a US production base, and the first with a fully automated BBU line.

Strategy

Build the BBU franchise in the US rather than in Thailand, on the argument that proximity to North American AI customers matters more than following the PSU makers. Pegatron's Georgetown plant and Systems' Plano plant are meant to share US manufacturing. The 2028 revenue target is NT$10bn (~US$317m).
