Who TECO is

TECO Electric & Machinery (1504.TW) is a Taiwan industrial group built on motors and electrical equipment, now organised around four groups: electromechanical systems, power and energy, air-conditioning and smart living, and smart energy. Electromechanical plus power and energy are already more than 70% of sales and rising.

It is not on NVIDIA's published 800 VDC partner list, and the Q2 2026 call did not discuss 800 V, HVDC, or solid-state transformers. TECO is in this collection as a medium-voltage / facility-power read on data-center buildout — the motors, transformers, switchgear, busway and MEP that electrify a hall.

Business mix

  • Electromechanical systems — large and medium-voltage motors, including US demand from data-center cooling customers and oil-and-gas. The largest group.
  • Power and energy — transformers, switchgear, GIS, busway, and electrical construction. Data-center and offshore-wind work is what has been lifting this group's margin.
  • Air-conditioning and smart living — mix is being shifted away from residential toward higher-margin commercial HVAC and large chillers.
  • Smart energy — automation and related products, the smallest of the four.

Capacity plans on the call included an Indonesia transformer plant aimed at US orders, a Wuxi HVAC plant for large chillers, and more switchgear/GIS capacity. The Danasai acquisition is meant to add prefabricated electrical and Thailand engineering.

Where it sits in the NVIDIA 800 VDC stack

Upstream of it, on the AC side of the building.

NVIDIA's diagram starts at 13.8–35 kV AC, then an MV rectifier or SST, then a 5000 A DC board and 1500 A busduct into an 800 VDC rack. TECO's disclosed data-center work is the plant that feeds that conversion: medium-voltage motors for chillers, transformers, switchgear, facility busway, and MEP. That is real data-center electrical demand. It is not an 800 VDC power shelf, BBU, rack, or MV rectifier.

Two traps on this call, both unit confusions:

  • 800 kW is Taiwan's revised large-user electricity threshold, expected to pull the regulated population from about 490 sites to about 5,000. It is a kilowatt tariff trigger for energy-service work, not 800 V.
  • 800–1,000 horsepower H-pump motors are an oil-and-gas recovery print, not an 800 V product.

The Malaysia busway plant's first data-center order landed in late July. Management did not say that busway is NVIDIA's 1500 A DC busduct. Do not upgrade it.
